I hope everyone in this photo contacts their Congress member to compliment and/or object to the actions of Trump and his cabal. See below for how to find out who your Member of Congress is.
After days of rain, the skies above Los Angeles were gloriously blue on the day of the Women’s March in January 2017. And there were hundreds of thousands of us crammed together on Olive Street and Hill Street marching to City Hall. While our numbers in L.A. were enormous and the weather was great I want to shout ‘Brava’ to the Marchers in small towns like Sandpoint, Idaho and Lompoc, California. And to the women of Boise and Anchorage who marched in the snow.
What should you do next? Contact your Member of Congress by email, FB post, or voice and keep contacting them every time you have an objection or praise about what is going on in D.C. Do not sit silent.
Don’t know who your Member of Congress is? Go to THIS OFFICIAL SITE, plug in your zip code and you will find out.
Okay…no doubt you have seen big panorama shots of the tens of thousands of marchers, so I will show you the March at a smaller scale starting with a Princess Leia sign and the first of many pussyhats.
One marcher used a photo of Princess Leia on her sign. I like the way the pink hat goes with the floral shirt. It was warm enough to be on the March in a warm sweater or light jacket.I have to thank my niece for taking this photo of Jane Fonda and others carrying a banner. I remember seeing the banner but did not take a good photo of it. Even my niece didn’t notice Fonda, but her husband did after she got home and they were looking at the pictures. Some carried signs while marching to City Hall, others stood on the sidewalks holding their signs. The pink pussyhats were everywhere, obviously. The sign on the left actually read: ‘Resist Hate’. And happily the Marchers did. Not one arrest at the L.A. Women’s march.Three more pussyhats.Another sign of the times apparently written by someone with a more religious frame of mind.My personal favorite! I am on Medicare now and while I am in good health I’m very fearful that Congress, in particular Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, will ‘privatize’ it. The fact that Congress’s first act this year was to try to do away with the Ethics Committee is incredibly telling. Some pundits on TV questioned the point of the Women’s March. This Marcher had a suggestion.
