If you are visiting Pasadena for the Rose Parade, take a few minutes to see the Pasadena Museum of California Art. Or more specifically the ground floor garage of the museum.
The building that houses the Pasadena Museum of California Art is an utterly boring block. So the museum board commissioned Los Angeles artist Kenny Scharf to paint the ground floor garage and here are a few photos of what he did.
Upstairs at PMCA the current exhibition is entitled ‘In the Land of Sunshine’. It is a show of paintings of California beaches and beach life beginning in the late 1800s. No photographs of the art are permitted, but I can tell you that it is a show that is well worth seeing.
