union Station Christmas 2016

Festive decorations and Santa at Union Station in downtown Los Angeles

While there are now holiday decorations in Union Station, thank goodness they do not pipe in holiday music.  Even the idea of hearing ‘Jingle Bell Rock’ while transferring from the Gold Line to the Red Line makes me shudder.

The sounds in this huge and gorgeous building, now the hub of public transportation in L.A., are simply the announcements of trains arriving and departing and the voices of travelers en route to somewhere.

However, there will be a tree lighting ceremony on the south Patio on December 1st, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. with music by the All-American Boys Choir and Kaleidoscope Orchestra. Cocoa and cookies will be served and Santa will be there for selfies.
