RRomeo and Juliet Griffith Park 2015

A surprisingly comic ‘Romeo and Juliet’ at Griffith Park

Romeo and Juliet at Griffith Park
Romeo and Juliet performed by the Independent Shakespeare Company in Griffith Park.

Last evening we caught the final performance of ‘Romeo and Juliet’ for the 2015 season in Griffith Park.  It was a rambunctious performance advertised as being punk rock inspired.

Next up for the Independent Shakespeare Company is ‘Much Ado About Nothing’, set in Italy during World War II.  It starts next Thursday.  Admission is free.

During the Covid 19 pandemic in 2020 the Independent Shakespeare Company staged a virtual Romeo and Juliet which I watched from my new home in Tucson.  It combined several virtual media and is fun to see!

Shakespeare at the Old Zoo Griffith Park
The audience numbered about 2500 for this free performance. Unlike the Hollywood Bowl or the Greek Theater–both also in Griffith Park or adjacent–seating is on a steep grassy slope.
Musicians for Romeo and Juliet
This year there was a small band playing incidental music in keeping with the punk rock inspiration for this version of Romeo and Juliet.
